“Kupferman Friends’ Kupfermans”

In commemoration of the first year of Kupferman’s departure, we exhibit in the collection gallery a selection of works that belong to his friends in Kibbutz Lohamei Hagetaot (a large number of additional works are found in the friends’ houses).

Moshe used to give works not only to his close relatives – his wife Miya, his daughters, his son and grandchildren – and to personal friends – people he liked to meet in front of a work he had just completed, for reflection and talk, but in fact to any Kibbutz members who wanted one. Among these companions are his peers, Kibbutz members with whom he had covered a lot of mileage since the early days of the Kibbutz, as well as younger friends, who liked to share with him their opinions, impressions and experiences.

The film made by Shoshi Ben-Hamo – who accompanied us in our visits to the Kibbutz members when we went to transfer the paintings and drawings in their possession from their houses to the gallery – documents each one’s story about the special occasion in which Moshe offered them to choose their favorite work as a gift. Each one’s story is everyone’s story – a story of companionship, friendship and brotherhood.
